So I’d like to officially annouce that Iain Laurie, also known as OneNeck or even OneNeck Hates You, and Dayna Gedney won round one of our Poster Design Contest. Their posters were chosen for the for the Indyish Launch Weekend. You’ll see what we did with their designs in the posters going up all over town, and we’ll be doing features on them on Indyish, and hey! they’ve both won a year’s worth of website hosting- which is actually space for like 40 websites or something crazy like that. You can read all the details in El’s post about the Touchbasic webhosting package which may help you get excited because…
the poster contest is STILL GOING! and there is one more year of web hosting left to be won!
We can’t help it, we want to see more poster art! It’s in our blood! There are drawers, illustrators, graphic designers, graffiti artists out there whose work we haven’t seen yet, and we want to! And we want to help them to start websites, and sell their work on Indyish, and connect with the publishers and bands and designers who’ll join us here. (we’re just launching, remember, we expect to grow a little yet.)
So finish that drawing would you! You know who you are! You started some and didn’t finish them, but now’s you’re chance. You have until the last possible second to get them to us, and get them up on the walls at our Launch Weekend, August 5th and 6th.
You can take your posters to Wa’ou, where the voting will take place. And vote while yer at it! vote as many times as you go into the store, and you can vote until the friday after the Launch. We’ll announce the winner at the sceening/wrap party at the Acting Studio of Montreal. (and we’ll post it here, and on the myspace blog.)
It’s a poster for the Indyish launch remember, and you can caricaturize Indyish, or do whatever you want. Make sure to include the name of the site, and the venue: mile end cultural centre. and the dates: aug 5-6 2006. You can print then up at home on 8.5 and 11, and take them over to Wa’ou where they’re going up on the walls.
