WhiteRoom and Reflections on Friday

by Risa Dickens

WhiteRoom played at our Indyish / What is Indie Screening during the Fringe and I have had a great time getting to know the guys in the band since this joyful fiasco by getting stuck with them at Indie Music Salons or roped into performing in their music video. They’re nice, enthusiastic guys who really love the music they make. They have a show the night of our Mess, next Friday, Sept.27, and a love interest in the tap dancer who’s going to be rocking our stage, so I think there will be some running back and forth between venues, which is something I always like to encourage.

Here’s a little blurby from them on the evening, and a flyer, and I’ll put an mp3 up on the podcast, and if you want to check out a whole album you can download the zip from: www.whiteroom.ca/press.

WhiteRoom, back from their summer break, will hit the stage with the
first new material since their self-titled debut album. Joining them
are Plajia, doing their progressive alt pop thang, and Ben Shemie’s
captivating electronica brainchild, Blink BlinkBlink (in 6.1 Surround
Sound!). For an added dimension of incredibility - we’ve also signed
up VJ Taica to offer Live Video and Visual Processing.

So come on by for an evening of unified, sultry harmony, haunting
melody and cinematic soundscaping.

Where: Sala Rossa, 4848 St-Laurent Blvd.
Date: Thursday, September 27
Time: 9pm
Cover: $7

Light reflects on polished glass like the mind reflects on itself. Where duality and non-duality join in the flatness, images emerge for the eyes and mind. Three photographic reflections.
