Round here we’re into process art (see: the Assembly). What follows is a project my roommate documented using facebook. You’ll have to login to facebook to view the project.
Tyler Rauman makes show posters, mainly for local promoters, Blue Skies Turn Black, but also for all kinds of other events. (He designed our Assembly show poster).
Tyler just got a digital camera and is a bit flash-happy. At the link above you can view the photos he took as he worked on his latest poster for Calvin Johnson, Julie Doiron, and Brian Seeger. Flicking through the shots feels a bit like watching that program where the guy teaches you to paint step-by-step. This is less of a lesson and more of a look at how one artist’s ideas develop over time.
Tyler talks about tools and techniques with the most passion of anyone I know; he loves to let you in on what he’s learning. Right now he’s in Toronto selling posters with Jack Dylan as Miracle Fortress make their way west on the Pop Off tour.
More of Tyler’s work on indyish.
