Video clip from Friday’s show at Main Hall: bedbugbite makes noise

by Tessa Smith

Here’s a short video clip from Friday’s show at Main Hall. Papercut Productions pulled in a great crowd for bands Navet Confit, Hollerado, The Mr. Move, and Bedbugbite.

Hollerado were dressed in suits and played tight, distorted sixties pop. Great vocals and interesting progressions made for an awesome set where another band might have bored us in this oversaturated genre.

The Mr. Move came in from New York and after some trouble at the border, walked into the venue and straight on stage to perform a one song soundcheck that got applause from the whole room. His performance was hot and people were dancing and singing along to his often offensive, but well-crafted hiphop. He rapped along to a CD of his tracks and he and his posse later proved their self-professed alcoholism by drinking enough beer that the cases filled both my fridge and the entire kitchen floor.

I missed Navet Confit, but heard that they put on a great show. Their set was perhaps longer than it needed to be, but from what I saw of them at sound check, they deserve to play all their songs. They were tight and versatile, and points go to them for an end of set freakout to put ours to shame. Guitars were smashed and band members were beaten with their own instruments. I’m waiting for some photos of the show to demonstrate their drummer’s award-winning pants.

This is opening band, bedbugbite at the end of our set, making lots of noise. Video projections behind us were put together by guitarist, Ted Kulczycky, and that’s Jonathan Stewart on autoharp, Greg on drums, and me on bass. Video by GVP:

Check out bedbugbite at Crescent St. Pub on Friday, April 13th.

Yeah, finances are a real pain in the ass… in the meantime, catch bedbug bite at Cagibi tonight (Friday November 16th). I believe it’s pay what you can, so no need to save your pennies.
