As an Indyish member, one of the first questions you’re likely to ask is, “how do i add images to my blog or product posts?”.
Ever since we started out here at Indyish, the issue of “how to add images” has been a source of continued debate. In short, it’s not so easy to add images to your posts. There are many ways to do it - perhaps too many - and none of them ever work as you’d expect. Well, we’ve listened to a lot of feedback on this subject and tried out a ton of different wordpress plugins that all claimed to improve the way images are uploaded. Still, none of these were easy enough to use, none powerful or flexible enough to suit our particular needs here at Indyish, and so none of these plugins ever made it out of the development stages.
However, it looks like all that is about to change because we think we may have finally found what we were looking for!
The new Indyish image uploader has 5 key features:
1. Really Large Images are automatically resized and compressed.
(so a giant 2MB image at a resolution of 2048×1536 will end up as an 89K with a maximum width of 640px)2. Improved Image Thumbnails, automatically created and ready for use in your posts.
(so the same image from above also has a tiny thumbnail image with a maximum width of 200px)3. Choose between Clickable Thumbnail Preview (a.k.a “the thickbox effect”), or Not.
(show a thumbnail in your post, clicking on the thumbnail causes the screen to dim and a larger image pops up)4. Choose Image Alignment, or Not.
(align your image to the left, the right, centered, or none. aligning left or right causes text to wrap around the image)5. Multiple File Uploads
(upload more than one image at a time)
In the long term, these changes mean that our site will run faster and smoother. Uploading images will be simpler, no more large images that break off the page, no more tiny thumbnails that are too small to even see.
Note: The Image Uploader is not yet available for Indyish members and this is just a heads up.
Here’s a quick sneak peek at the new image uploader, coming very soon..

Stay tuned for more details once this upcoming feature goes live!
