That’s right, tomorrow — Monday 15 October — is the official Blog Action Day, the once-a-year date when all blogs who choose to participate write on a given topic.
This year’s topic? The environment.
“Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.”
This may sound like an easy task, as we all undoubtedly have something to say relating to this vast theme. If you’re strapped for ideas, why not rent An Inconvenient Truth and blog your thoughts on the hot-topic documentary? Do you agree with Al Gore’s winning of the Nobel Peace Prize (along with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change)?
Truth be told — and this comes from an ardent environmentalist — blogging about the environment of a global day of action is not such an easy instruction. I’ve been rolling the words around in my head for months now and still don’t know what to discuss. Without writing a unique post each minute, how can I possibly cover all I’d like to? How do I pick what I feel is most important to write about? How do I craft what (I hope) will be the most interesting and most relevant post for all readers?
These questions have clogged my brain all weekend. I don’t have any answers. I don’t think, no matter how late I stay awake tonight (or how many brilliant dreams I have while asleep), I will come up with any. So tomorrow I will do what I’ve been trained to do all my life: improvise, live in the moment, and grab what’s right in front of me and roll with it.
That said, I’d love to hear your thoughts. What do you hope to see addressed by the thousands of blogs registered as participants in Blog Action Day? This is an open forum — what do you want to say?
Tomorrow, we will post. We will write about what strikes us deep inside. Be it forestry, climate change, biodiversity, recycling… And when we do write, tell us what you think, whether you agree or disagree!
I hope to see some informative blogging about alternative energy (something I myself want to learn more about). As for me, I think I’ll be following your lead with some last-minute improvising!
