Hey! Look who’s on the cover of this week’s Montreal Mirror? Why, it’s Thunderheist. After seeing them play the Indyish/Pop Montreal Holla-Days party in December, I’m entirely sold. Their tracks on myspace are probably the best club hiphop I’ve heard recently and we were pumping them in the office and at home for weeks before the show. Grahm and Isis put on an incredibly fun, engaging show at the party that left us sweaty and smiley and feeling generally spent. Weekend participants also made some smokin music videos for their song, Bubblegum.
Both Thunderheist and Indyish’s own Headquarters Galerie and Boutique were featured in the Mirror’s Noisemakers 2007 of groups to watch in the coming year.
Too lazy to walk to the dep for a copy? Flip to this virtual page for their write-up and photo.
And you don’t even need to lick your thumb to turn the page and read about Headquarters. But you can. I just did, and now my spacebar is wet. If you know what I mean. sorry…
Catch Thunderheist January 13th at Club Lambi and stop by Headquarters January 6th for a “vernissage/freakout” with work by Neil Doshi Basquiat and James Scorpian Dagger Kerr. Peep their blog for lots of ongoing HQ goodness.
“Indyish’s own Headquarters Galerie and Boutique”. Sorry if that made it sound like the indyish headquarters are located there. Angie and Tyson are indyish artists who run their own boutique and gallery space called HQ. But you would know that from the mirror article…
We’ve got lots of Indyish posts about HQ:
