We may be in mid November…but Halloween is still fresh in my mind.
Anyone who’s lived in San Francisco is well aware of Dolores Park in the Mission district. Similar to Mount Royal on a Sunday, Dolores Park has an eclectic mix of people chilling on the side of its slope, overlooking the beautiful SF skyline. Interesting things are always happening. You may be quietly reading in the shade when you notice that a topless slip n slide has been set up by a local lesbian/gay rights group. Maybe a random band decided to set up shop, having their amps powered by solar panels. On Saturday Oct. 27th in the midst of a mass protest again George W. and the war in Iraq, a whole bunch of people dressed as zombies preformed the thriller dance (as seen in the Michael Jackson video).
While the dance certainly does not compare to the Philippino prison thriller video, the dancers did a pretty good job. In fact, the dance was preformed at the same time in 52 cities across the world by 1 722 people, and was organized by Thrill the World. The plan was to break a world record for largest simultaneous thriller dance…which they did. They’ll be trying again next year too…Montreal is on the list of cities…so keep an eye out if you missed it.
Here’s the video from Dolores Park:
surreal times we live in…=)
