Hi y’all,
Happy New Year to the Indyish flock and friends! The past year was wonderful, heavy and passed quickly. Rather than making resolutions (which I’ve never done before) I found it helpful to make a list of all the highs and lows and accomplishments of 2006, in order to really understand and give thanks for the year.
So far, this New Year has started off feeling both busy and internal, sort of like a hive. Let me show you some stuff that Lickety Split and I are up to:

Lickety Split number 4 will be launched on the 23rd or 24th of February and I’m pumped! We have the best cover ever designed by Sherwin Tjia and I want to show it off here and now, but it too is hibernating. This launch will boast great bands, the first ever Daughters of Joy! Film and Video Festival and some other secret goodies to be revealed in a future post.

Currently, I’m taking the week off to work hard on my first ever art show with Anita Schoepp. The date is February the 1st and I’m sewing/painting/snipping my ass off, working on portraits of my mother and family based on old photos. Anita asked something like 20-25 people to “personify their sexuality” for her video camera. Soon she will create her own cave/triple projection of the performances she gleaned (including one from yours truly). It will all go down at Galerie Espace.

Erin and I (Nightwood) are having a Secret Listening and Drawing Party on Jan. 26th- date is tentative…basically, artists and volunteers listen to the songs and draw as we play them live in a secret location. These are NOT drawings of us (necessarily), just whatever the person/drawer feels like that song should look like. The art will be then accompany our little CD project when it comes out of hiding…credit given if people want it.

I’d love to know what others are up to as well- please share!
