Davis Guggenheim directed the movie that won Al Gore his Oscar, An Inconvenient Truth, and filmed the 30-minute Barack Obama “infomerical” that ran on all stations before the election. But the next project we’ll see from him is getting far, far away from politics and diving straight into noise. Lots and lots of noise.

It Might Get Loud, which Variety reports will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, is a documentary about the life of the electric guitar. U2’s the Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White are interviewed for the film, which you have to assume will be a slightly reserved take on that emblem of rock and roll. (…)

has also been a writer on a lot of shows we actually really enjoy over here, like Deadwood, and Num3ers, and NYPD Blue, so maybe his take on the electric guitar’s history is awesome… we can hope right? Yes we can.
