The Show Must Go On - accident, injury and pulling together.

by Risa Dickens

These things drop in on you out of the blue; a phone call, a friend hurt, careful plans all upsidedown in the face of bodily harm, and sometimes it coincides with suddenly very everyday things like putting on a show. Indyish event coordinator and our dear friend Tristan Brand was hurt yesterday, being joyfully epic (as usual, what a guy.) He’s in hospital and will be off his feet for a month or so, but for now seems ok and stable. Whew and thank heavens. Since I found out late last night, with more details early this morning, I’ve been working to stay calm and to try and keep moving forward: We have a show coming up and, as they say, the show must go on.

What’s helped enormously has been a surge of support from friends of Indyish jumping in. Tristan’s priority, according to friends on the scene, has been to make sure we have everything we need to pull it off without him, and with his vote of confidence, and much kind help, I think we really will be able to pull it off in style, in his honour. Our goal is to rock so hard he feels us and gets better quicker.

We may be a little extra busy behind the scenes over the next while trying to keep in touch with the health of our Indyish team member, event coordinator and long time bud, and sorting out what needs to happen with the show, so please be patient with us and send good vibes!

If you want to send him some love and Get Well, email Tristan@Indyish.com. If you want to help us out here at Indyish central, contribute your blogging, podcasts or video. Hearing from you and seeing your shining faces at the shows we produce always means a lot to all of us.

Peace friends and keep safe.
