The Ides of March and an Ancient Tradition. Coincidence? I think not. It’s Ariadne’s First Learn to Spin Class

by ariadne

The Ides of March might have been cold and dreary, but certainly not at Ariadne. Our first “Learn to Spin on a Drop Spindle” was held that afternoon, and it was not only fun to watch, but very informative, full of smiles, laughs, tea and cookies.

Our Students gathered ’round the fireplace at 13h and started to investigate their potential new craft.

Leslie, our instructor (in dark red) spoke of the history of spinning, how to read the fibres and how to get started on your spindle. Isabella, Ariane and Aretoula look on with interest.

After a small bit of instruction on how to read the fibre, it was prepared and the spinning began:

Towards the end, plying was utilized, to great satisfaction!

Our Greek Goddess would be so proud.

A super Thank You to Leslie Ordal, Super Instructor for providing knowlege, insight and making our first Spinning Class a success! We will be holding spinning classes all spring and summer, with more intermediate subjects on the horizon this summer.
