July 4 - 7: The Gits Movie, NY and a special BUST event dedicated to the amazing Mia Zapata, who also, I think, just wanted to play…:

The Gits Movie is a rousing and heartbreaking story of Seattle band The Gits, whose promising start was cut short by the tragic murder of singer Mia Zapata. When director Kerri O’Kane began making the movie, the case was still unsolved. But as friends and celebrities like Joan Jett and Nirvana helped raise money to reopen the case, Mia’s killer was brought to justice as the cameras rolled. Catch the premiere of this inspiring film at the Pioneer Theater in NYC. Also be sure to join BUST on Monday, July 7 at The Delancey (168 Delancey St., NYC) for a special memorial event that will include special guests Kathleen Hanna: (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre), Allison Wolfe (Bratmobile), Rrriot!, DJ Dario Speedwagon and more.
