The Consistent Variable Project Workbook

by

The Consistent VAriable Project Workbook The CVP Workbook is about a design experiment that took place in Montreal, published through LULU.com. It’s about working within constraints, and it’s about how surprising, weird and great other people are. The CVP Workbook has funny things like drawings, photographs, and haiku’s; and also educational things like fill-in-the-blank’s, a material history, and an introduction to writing Political Economy by Diane Dechief. Risa Dickens wrote this book with diverse contributions from Diane; haiku’s by Emily Bernstein; illustrations by Thea Jones; a collage by Stevie Dam, and photographs by Stacey Lundeen. This book was inspired by the original idea for the Consistent Variable Project, by Clayton Evans and Sarah Collins.

This is a final version of the First Edition. Also- the book will be going on line one page at a time over at OJ Press homebase: Open Journal.

ok, so i’ve received my copy of the CVP Workbook and it looks great. There was one surprise, but i actually think, and so does Diane, that the surprise is for the best. i’m not going to tell you what it is. if you see the book and have a guess, post it here and i’ll tell you if you’re right. but basically: it looks great, the lines are sharp and clear in the graphics, and so the illustrations look really lovely. i think we did justice to Thea Jones’ lovely work. The photos are cool, and show the clothes well. they feel nostalgic, which works with the whole seventies craft book flair of the thing. My mum says they feel like they’re photos of ideas.

so it’s officially ready to go, and now i can safely say it’s been bug checked and is pretty freakin workable. and funny. and odd. and cool, and possibly, if you were a cvp participant, containing stories about you.

    cheers!!
