Sunday, June 21. Father’s Day. The first day of summer and the last day of the fringe. Finally some sun this weekend. If I have any more street meat this weekend I risk permanent BBQ stains on my intestine.
My daily fringe diet compromised by Father’s Day obligations, absolutely starved [...]
I must admit I was a bit wary to set out on my journey of seeing three fringe plays in a row. I had never been to more than one theatrical performance in a day and I fretted about how my body would react. Never one for being able to sit still for [...]
I’ve always gotten a kick out of the Montreal Fringe. Quite a few friends of mine, have either worked for, volunteered or been part of a production at the Fringe, and this year it’s no different. Well, it’s slightly different. In past years, I’ve always been one to spectate and enjoy the shows! This year [...]
Dirty Beaches’ latest album, Horror came out just last month and already it’s getting some nice reviews. In a recent interview with us, this is how Alex aka Dirty Beaches described making Horror:
The whole album was an experience of horror. Like therapy.
I wanted to record it.

We at Indyish want to bring you reviews and highlights from Expozine 07. Unlike theatre and music reviews, ‘zines take a little time to ruminate (read: read) but we promise to blog as we consume our Expozine purchases over the next few days.
Sun sets and suddenly we’re at summer camp. The bathrooms are full of girls fixing their hair and people juggle beers as they migrate from stage to stage. I feel like exploring the woods with a flashlight, but I wonder if the trees are just a facade that ends after the requisite 5 or 6. [...]

She has a beautiful curly, reverby voice; say the word ‘hawlr’ in a baby voice while breathing in and you sort of sound like her. Her songs are essentially mom-friendly radio music, like if Stevie Nicks listened to more [...]
Patrick Watson is wonderful. His voice is well-trained and evocative and while I find his music somewhat ordinary, the addition of electronic elements and a complete sincerity in the delivery of it all turn him and his band into a really amazing musical experience. Piano helps. Talent too.
I only saw the end of his [...]
20 minutes into Reesor I wanted to stand up and yell THIS IS MY FAVORITE PLAY. heh. seriously. I loved it.
It is described thusly in promotions:
Between 1926-1945, 400 people called Reesor, Ontario home. Now, all that remains is a pile of stone. Surrounded by wilderness, alone in the bush, how do you build a home? [...]
A good one person show is easier to say then to do. You don’t get a break, the audience’s eyes are always on you and it’s up to you to create all the energy you can for them to feed off of so they can send some back to you. I think it was Ryan [...]
