We’re talking Tune Yards, the beautiful lady voice behind Sister Suvi, with a sharp and charming wit, fellow Uke player Sarah Mangle and her soft voice with no-quite-as soft lyrics, and Shawn Grady, ”magic old time music from Vermont”. Get excited! Get to Green Room! Tuesday at 9PM.
Also coming up at Green Room this Sunday is Bell Orchestre’s Mike Feuerstack’s
Snailhouse with BC pop band Great Aunt Ida. If you skip up the stairs to Main Hall, on this same night, you can check out Menomena, Land of Talk and Field Music, straight out of the UK.
Options? We love options!
Hey, while I’m on the subject, this Wednesday, my friend Aleks Schà ¼rmer is going to be rocking the baroque flute, just as hard as a baroque flute can be rocked. He’ll be opening for Half Baked who will jump around and be loud. Here’s the highlight: “Aleks Schà ¼rmer performs on renaissance, baroque, and keyed flutes while wearing American Apparel and tight fitting jeans.” Yum! He’ll be performing with his mini-band,(why mini? boy, i don’t know.) “a project to interweave baroque music with modern art, dance, fashion and film. An anachronistic way to recreate the excitment of 18th century performances, and stuff.” It should be good, do go! Divan Orange, 9PM.
