Some quotes and extensions thereof from the respective members of tonight’s fantastic show at Casa Del Popolo for the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival…
MV + EE with the Golden Road: In fact still orbiting the earth in Vermont is Matt ‘mv’ Valentine, once the brawn of the Tower Recordings, and Erika ‘ee’ Elder, the CEO of Heroine Celestial Agriculture/The MV & EE Medicine Show, together with their dog Zuma they run the child of microtones terran library of exploratory music and sing songs with global jungle avatars ‘The Golden Road’. Sometimes their own lunar blues, sometimes fingerstyle noise/space, sometimes lonesome frontier volk…always environments always rock. You will find many are one and they kinda like to jam together on guitar dimensions/amp realms, cocola firebird/lap steel, jazzmaster/hot silicon, solar strings/bass, pedal steel/teleforms and mighty tubs…respectfully and yours hanging loose.
White Flower is a Montreal quintet lead by Brian Lipson that plays highly orchestrated folk music. This band has a trumpet and violin, but no accordion or glockenspiel. Cathch it!
Orillia Opry is like a comfortable old car. There’s a real warm familiarity to their songs, kind of like that worn leather interior and broken turn signal. Hitting the Montreal music scene with their unique and intimate folk sound for some time now, their songs are fuller sounding and more infectious than you would expect from a folk duo. Daniel Noble and Emma Baxter sit at the core of this project.
