Indyish is delighted to feature the work of artists from Montreal as well as from anywhere out there in the wide world.

Submit as often as you like. Due to volume we may not be able to reply to you individually, but it is always our desire to do so. We like to meet new people.

Submit Art, Writing, Videos, and News for Publication

1. Visual art: illustrations, photography, painting, graphic design, textile arts, Internet experiments, etc.

2. Writing: fiction and non, poetry, essays, interviews and reviews.

3. Videos: art and music videos.

FORMAT: To be published on Indyish a post needs at least 50 words of original English text and one accompanying image, sound file or video. Files should be either .jpg or .mp3 and under 20MB. Image size maximum is 640 pixel width, height is unconstrained.

Just want to get your songs blogged about? You can send them via email, but heads up – the more materials you include, the more likely we are to blog, we love unofficial photos, bits of writing directed at our audience, album art, or unrelated art by friends.

2. songs for our Mixtape
Send us your songs and we’ll consider them for inclusion in the indie music mixtape we send out each month with our newsletter. Send songs of any style and genre. So long as you are the rights holder and you self-identify as an independent artist, we’re open minded. We love great music of all kinds and have featured independent hip hop, jazz, experimental music, electro, new rave, shoegaze, etc.

3. podcast
We are always looking for fascinating audio for our podcast – send radio drama, audio experiments, dramatic readings, interviews, curious music mixes, etc. Single audio projects as well as ongoing podcast series are equally welcome for inclusion in our indie-inter-arts streaming archive.

Submit to be Reviewed

We are happy to write up our thoughts on your indie art, music, fashion, film, or website and to publish the review on our site, if you like. Please just indicate when you are submitting your work that you are up for a review.

Indyish uses a couple different WordPress installations and dozens of different WordPress plugins in conjunction with MySQL, Apache, PHP and jquery. When appropriate we also work with other open source software projects like Celtx.com. We develop this site independently, our co-founder Elran Oded is also our entire engineering team, and we absolutely could not exist without the open source software community.

Submit to Perform at the Monthly Mess

Every month we book 3-5 musical acts, and 3-5 other acts (dance, drama, comedy, magic, juggling) for a live show called the Mess. If you would like to play, or if you have a video you’d like us to screen, send us information about your act and whatever else you can show us: links to your websites, videos, audio, etc. Let us know if you are open to collaborating with other artists, and what your ideas are, when you are looking to play, and what your technical requirements would be if we booked you.

If something looks weird or broken on our website, or on any of our social networking profiles, please let us know. Indyish is primarily developed by just 2 people (a mom and pop shop on the interwebs) and we rely on your eyes and insight. If you have thoughts on our projects and events, we’d love to hear them.

Indyish membership is by invite only. Any current member of Indyish can send invites to create new members, so if you have friends who are Indyish members, feel free to bother them into figuring it out. Or, just introduce yourself to us directly, request an invite and see what happens – we are usually very interested in the folks who are interested in us. We are primarily looking for people who get what we’re trying to do with the whole indies-in-a-network thing and who are self-motivated to participate in some way, online or off. Aside from that, we’re wide open to you and all of the wonderous things that you think up and do.
