Song-Writing contest for the December Monthly Mess
by team indyishWe love contests out here at Indyish and here’s a good one. While the scheming for the next Monthly Mess is getting finalized, we’ve started recruiting some more performers for the December one. Here’s the part where you take your agendas out and write this down:
-November Monthly Mess, November 24th at the Maxwell Haus
-December (holla-days!) Monthly Mess, December 19th at Ye Ol’ Orchard on Montagne and St.Catherine, with their weekly Singer Songwriter night.
And while you’ve got that agenda out, here’s the homework for December:
We’re sending out a call for all you creative musical minds out there. The rules are simple, write a song that has the word “Gift” in it. That’s it. Do this and we’ll invite you to perform at the December Monthly Mess alongside the very exciting acts we’ve booked but can’t tell you about yet (oooh).
The songs will be judged by a crew from Indyish. The winner will be given an opportunity to perform at the outdoor site of the Montreal Fringe fest - a 600 capacity tent where bands such as Islands and Miracle Fortress have performed in past years. We’ll make sure you get a good time-slot, too. Also, you’ll receive a special gift certificate prize from Ye Ol’ Orchard!
Yay for good gigs, free food and beer!

french is most welcome, and we need to know at least by the day before how many people are planning to compete. since we’ll be starting after midnight with this we may need to cap participation if it’s gonna get too late.
