Slum Village – free indie hip hop mp3 + music video

by Risa Dickens

Clean version, dirty version, all the Slum Village is a good village for the Saturday morning hip hop.

The original trio of T3, Baatin and J Dilla introduced themselves to the hip-hop realm in the 1990’s, Slum homage to life with its ups and downs in Detroit keeps them well grounded.

Formed in 1996 Slum Village released their first album Fantastic Volume 1, independently. The album was an instant underground classic.
After the group’s first national release, Fantastic, Volume 2 under their home label Barak Records the Slum Village roster slowly began to change, their newest member Elzhi, made his Slum Village debut on the album Trinity: Past, Present, Future released on (Barak/Capitol).

In 2004 Slum’s Detroit Deli, was penned as being their most musically rich album to date production consisted of the young pros Young RJ Rice and Black Milk a.k.a. “B.R. Gunna” with guest production by Kanye West on their hit single “Selfish”.

Now back where they first started, Slum village has found their niche in giving that fiery flow that true hip-hop heads felt has been lost for a long time. Slum has returned home back to their roots, giving their listeners the best of some of their unreleased material since Fantastic Vol. 1, with their new Mix Tape “Prequel to a Classic” production by Young RJ & Black Milk a.k.a. B.R. Gunna, J. Dilla, Karriem Riggins.

This classic mix tape contains performances by Baatin, Frank & Dank, B.R. Gunna, and J. Isaac.
