Sled Island Film Component is a Festival Within Itself!

(CALGARY) Sled Island is pleased to include a comprehensive film component at the Sled Island Music and Arts Festival from Tuesday June 23 to Sunday June 28 at multiple film venues in Calgary, Alberta.

The film component at Sled Island will be a festival within itself by presenting over 30 of the best in independent films worldwide over the course of 5 days. All of the films have been selected with music in mind, but that doesn’t limit them to any specific genre. From international award winning documentaries to local shorts – there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The Sled Island Film Festival will feature the Alberta Premiere of I Need That Record!, a documentary that explores the decline of record stores across North America, Film Racing, a competition for local filmmakers to create a film in 24 hours based on a chosen theme, and the Alberta Premiere of the award-winning hip-hop documentary Free Style: The Art of Rhyme that captures the electrifying energy of free-verse rhyming. In addition, the festival is peppered with dozens of local short films to compliment the international film programming.
