Site Maintenance and Upcoming Improvements

Well, there haven’t been too many new features to speak of on Indyish over the last few weeks.. This is mainly because we’ve been focused on cleaning up existing code throughout the site, in preparation for the upcoming (and highly secretive) design update, aka: “All Site Refresh”.

In the meantime, and after some testing, several bugs were identified - some of which were causing more problems than others.

As a result, the following features have been temporarily disabled until further notice:

1. Tag Autocomplete - when you write a post, tags are still available - but that tiny feature that would auto-complete the word for you as you typed it - well, that was causing the Write post page to hang or pause for a long time (too long) and dramatically increased the total time it took to load the page. It is turned off for now. See this forum post for more details.

2. Quick Links - those 5 small icons that used to be at the top of the right sidebar were removed. This is consistent with the All Site Refresh, those shortcut links aren’t being used and were slowing down the frontend of the website so say: bye bye.

3. CC Licence - the ability to set a creative commons license on a per post basis has be disabled. This is a relatively new feature but is causing problems for Mac users on Safari web browser which represents roughly 10% of our audience so it’s turned off until we can fix the problem.
