I decided to post about Record Production Month because I think it’s nifty, and rather similar to some of the Indyish Assembly stunts that have been pulled off in the past. The RPM challenge (www.rpmchallenge.com) is to record at least 10 songs, or 35 minutes of original music, within the month of February. Sure, it’s a rip-off of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), but who cares? Artists of all types tend to need motivational shoves now and then!
My last album (which was also my first) was recorded in studio. The whole process took almost a year, from choosing the studio, to finding musicians, to rehearsing, recording, mixing, mastering, manufacturing and releasing. I don’t regret that experience - I think it’s really valuable to go through the whole process. But I definitely look forward to doing something different! I’m thinking out-there lyrics recorded into Garageband with a cheap microphone.
I invite the bold and the bored to join me.
this is great! i love a swift and sizeable challenge, that’s how i did the first draft of my MA thesis - 2 pages a day for 1 month and I had the rough draft. Maybe we’ll do an http://Indyish.com/podcast album in Feb!

This is a great idea. I’ll try that.
This is funny cos’ I just got the whole gear to record my first album so it’s right on time.
Peace

Ted did it too, mailed it off on Friday. The album is called “Is this Chorus Barloff?” and it’s pretty awesome.
