Puppetbox + Danny Lutz + Superfossilpower – yay for indie electro + music video

by Risa Dickens

Really fricken cutesville electro indie pop from Brooklyn, a band called Puppetbox, appeared in my email inbox today all ready and waiting with a sweet buddy music video to make my life more full of skinny men dancing hilariously (and not just in the music video, but also here at home! nice.) This marks the third time in just a few days that I’ve been gifted with kooky, 80’s infused indie electro pop – yesterday we encountered the music of fellow Montrealer Danny Lutz who translates a shameless love of pop into some funkyass tunes, with lovely simple smart wry twists of lyric like “you get your butterflies from other guys” that make me a little swoony in spite of myself. And over the weekend, at our monthly Indyish show, we got to savor a booty shaking taste of our friend Tyler Rauman’s mad beaty mastermindedness, Superfossilpower. Turns out, April comes in like a nerdy new club kid… and I like it.
