Phonopolis launch party and Postcards show

by Tessa Smith

If you live in Montreal, there are two great things happening tomorrow night that you might want to check out. Starting around 6pm, Phonopolis record shop is having its launch party with performances from Julie Doiron, a punk project called underaged with Martin Ceasar (of Think About Life) and Graham Van Pelt (of Miracle Fortress and TAL), and at least one other band.

Postcards, Tin Can Telephone, Freelove Fenner

Later that night, Postcards are playing at Le Cagibi with Tin Can Telephone and Freelove Fenner. Freelove Fenner have made beautiful recordings of their surreal sixties pop and I’m really looking forward to seeing them play live.

In my capacity as one half of Fixture recordings, I just finished dubbing and printing Postcards’ new cassette tape. Their music is extremely well suited to a tape release and I’m excited to have a few copies available at the show tomorrow. (International orders are also possible through the Fixture myspace.) You might recognize Postcards from having jumped in at the last minute to play the December Monthly Mess.
All kinds of good on a Saturday night.
