For those of you who are sick and tired that all the dance shows happen between Place des Arts and Sherbrooke metros, you can now stop your whining. Evolucidanse is bringing the dance to NDG.

Evolucidanse is a young company created by Geneviève Bolla and Émilie Gratton Beaulieu. They are both also dancers for Mandala Sitù, so you might have had the chance to see them perform in two great shows, Marie-Pascale Bélanger’s L’Oeil du Pigeon and Dave St-Pierre’s WARNING. With Evolucidanse, Bolla takes on the role of choreographer and it is her latest work, OTHERS, that you can catch this week at the KoSA Centre for the Arts.

In OTHERS, she explores interpersonal relationships and the image that we project of ourselves, conscious that the person we truly are may not be the one we want to reveal. Still, the person we’d like to be is always inevitably unmasked, while the people we admire manage to remain a mystery. Her choreography is raw and physically demanding, exploring physical touch as people connect, give up, let go, and waver in the spaces between.

OTHERS is a work for five dancers and one actor that also features Vincent Dostaler-Tarte, Ingrid Proulx, Sarah Desrosiers, and Isabelle Arcand. You might have noticed Arcand in the work of the rising star of Québec contemporary dance, Virginie Brunelle.

You can catch OTHERS at the KoSA Centre for the Arts (5325 Crowley, Vendôme metro) from November 12 to 14, at 8pm. Tickets are 20$. For more information, visit evolucidanse.com or call 514.656.KOSA (5672).
