Open House for Art today

by Risa Dickens

In Montreal today and want to see what the fuss over Concordia’s Fine arts Program is all about? Hussle down for their first-come-first served, open-access-ish display. Students throw open their studio doors, fill up school space with exhibits and put on a show…

VAV OPEN HOUSE EXHIBITION

On Friday April 13 th from ( 6 pm –11 pm ) students in the VA will be holding an end of the year Open House Exhibition and bash. All students are welcome and encouraged to participate and show work. The event will see the open studios and classrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the VA building, transformed into a temporary exhibition space and performance venue. Creative Writing students will be holding an open mic session, IMCA students will be holding video screenings in VA-323 and music will be provided by live bands and DJ’s.

1) Any and all Fine Arts Students are invited to hang small bodies of work or install sculptural pieces on a first come first serve basis, in the painting and drawing classrooms on the 3rd floor of the VA. All mediums of work are welcome. Event coordinators will be on site to aid in hanging.

2) Students already working in the Open Studios on the 2nd and 3rd floor are encourage to clean up their respective spaces and hang small bodies of work on the available walls and easels.

There’s also installation and video and general good vibes I expect, alongside some stellar and maybe non-stellar work; ideally just the right combo to let you feel discerning but not too judgy, and lucky when you find the diamond in the mix. Ahh school days..

greg… watch for him a coming on indyish!for sure this smart artist should be there - Greg’s the one who sent me the heads up about it and mentioned he’d be there with the early birds claming his space on the walls. If you were at Expozine or the Holla-Days boutique, you’ll remember his work, and you’ll be able to find it again at the Indyish Art Marts during the Fringe, turns out, woo!… and my sister sure loves the calendar I bought her from him!
