notes on the Insta boutique

by Risa Dickens

Indyish likes to plugin to places and make them into insta Indyish Boutiques. These give people in the area a chance to see goods from the site in person, to talk with Indyish founders and artists about what they do, and to experience commercialism of a slightly different flavour.

At the Insta Boutique, Indyish staffs a central cash and does sales and basic merchandizing. Artists are encouraged to hang out, help make sure their stuff looks nice, socialize and keep an eye on their goods- Indyish is not responsible for lost or stolen articles- but they are by no means required to do so.

On cash sales made at the Insta Boutiques, Indyish takes a 10% commission from Indyish artists and 20% from other artist vendors who are welcomed as our guests. On web sales it’s the same commission as usual (2% plus paypal’s 2.5ish). At Insta Boutiques with an Internet connection, folks can use credit or paypal to buy from Indyish artists directly through the site.

The Next Insta Boutique will take place:

Dec 16 12-4pm
Dec 17 12-4pm and then 8pm-3am during the Holla-Days Show

Note - spectaculous DJ crew will be providing beats throughout the afternoons (as well as in the wee hours, in between sets and afters the bands perform).

Info for Customers about the next Insta Boutique:

A good deal of work by artists from the site will be onsale, for example: uniquely made belts and guitar straps by Iisa Designs, and hats, and issues of Worn, and custom Tshirts, and CD’s, and poster art. A number of artists are also planning on bringing work that is not yet represented on the site, but will be soon, for example: the sexy new Telefauna t-shirts…

This weekend (Dec16-17) will be excellent for shopping indy artist style for many reasons. Hot Cakes, another friendly craft sale which used to be known as the Rusty Plum, will be taking place basically right across the street from Lambi, at the Playwrite’s Workshop. Some Indyish artists have bought tables at that sale, and that sale has run out of space so some of the artists on their waiting list will be offered space at our sale. We encourage you to stroll back and forth checking goods out.

And Hey! If you are interested in being Indyish, come and introduce yourself and bring some of your work for us to check out!

Info For Insta Boutique Vendors:

Drop off is between 11-12 on Saturday, Dec16 at Club Lambi. If you can’t make this time, contact to arrange another drop off.

If you are trying to get in a holiday sale, but are on the waiting list, get in touch with us. We have a little extra room and will gladly welcome guests.

We suggest you bring Price Tags with each items priced.
We require that you bring an inventory sheet [ download ] which you can dowload, fill out and email back to us, or print up and bring with you.

Important: From 12-4 Saturday and Sunday 2 professional photographers will be on hand to shoot product shots. If you have anything you’d like to post on Indyish, bring it in and we’ll get a nice picture. When not shooting product shots, you may find us improvising styled shots with Worn Fashion Journal Editor-in-Pants, Serah-MArie McMahon.
This photography is a free service offered for the Indyish by Nicolas Cote and Darren Curtis.

Pick up and pay out can happen Sunday night before the Show, or when you leave the Show, but preferred pick up time will be at the Detention screening for all the Music Videos, which will take place Wed Dec20, at 3674 St.Laurent, corner Prince Arthur. [map]
