Nneka’s upcoming US-debut album Concrete Jungle will be released on February 2nd from Yo Mama/Decon/Epic Records. New to the United States, with an established fan base which includes Lauryn Hill, Lenny Kravitz and The Roots, Nneka made her live debut with three sold-out shows in New York City this past week garnering Nneka as one of the most anticipated artists of 2010.

The video for “The Uncomfortable Truth” confronts Nneka’s reflection in sepia saturation, lamenting the hypocrisy of human nature while urging the global community to take notice and make a change. Complementing Nneka’s vocals on the infectious, horn-laiden track, the video is gritty and emotionally raw.

The Afro-German artist comes to the States with massive international success which includes the 2009 MOBO Award. Counting influences as diverse as Fela Kuti, Mobb Deep, Nina Simone and Bob Marley, as well as her roots in Nigeria and Germany, it is no wonder that Nneka exudes a trans-cultural flavor that is entirely her own. With lyrics that are often highly-political, frequently covering topics pertinent to Nigeria such as corruption of the Nigerian oil industry, her overlaying message of love, hope and optimism is universal.
