CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE (a call-out)

There you are sitting up in the dark on your double bed with your foot switching back and forth, counting the seconds. The thunderclouds are hovering blocks away, letting lines of lightening fall every minute and your foot is ticking like a pendulum inside an old grandfather clock. It restlessly swings with the endless sound of seconds passing back and forth in the base of the clock sitting at the edge of your bed. You look away from the window and down toward the pendulum and it suddenly stops, hanging mid-motion, floating like a worm on a hook. It begins again but starting in the reverse direction and gaining momentum. As the speed gathers this worm becomes a wormhole hanging midair like a window for you to look into. Images of pasts you have imagined appear and you long to be there.

The time for a decision has come:

A) It aches to stay there alone in your bed but it may be impossible to pass through this illusory portal. A long time without movement left your body paralyzed, gravity pinning it to the mattress, fallen like a suicide or a bridge. It may be that this trip will be endlessly suspended in front of you as you grow old covered in the cracks and mosses of a ruin sunk in your bed.

B) It is possible that you could swiftly start this bed-shaped-time-machine and launch directly into the past: wrinkling time by folding down the sheets or molding the blankets into castles to construct alternate imaginary histories.

C) It is just as likely that you will leap forward into a desolate future that has not come leaving everyone in the past. Or you might fall into a past-that-never-was constructed from books and movies that you float through like a helpless ghost. Or perhaps the past and future are so concrete that you will run headlong colliding into them like a rabbit crossing a freeway.

D) No matter what, you will try: wishing for a fluke or miracle to make an extraordinary exception, abiding only ?pataphysical laws, vaulting you out of the maps of history and forever deferring the successive moment.

We want your blueprints, time machine designs, weird tales, adventures, maps, poems, songs, portraits, or time travel related novelties.
