Ticket to Participate:
24hr Music Video Making Contest.
Saturday August 5th, 2pm.
Need an excuse to run around the city with a camera? Didn’t think so. But here’s a great one anyway!
The Montreal-based artist network, Indyish.com, will be celebrating its official launch: August 5-6. You can read more about our Indyish Arts Weekend, if you’d like to get all the details.
For the event, local musicians Telefauna, Shoot the Moon, and Sara Johnston, will each be donating a secret new song and they want you to make their music video!
We’ll give you 24 hours after receiving the new song to go out and be as creative as possible; rope those actor buddies, or grab some film stock and hunker down in front of a video editor (like jumpcut or one of these), or run out to your favourite Montreal location to film the masterpiece you dream of.
Your music video can be filmed on any medium but it must be submitted on DVD to be eligible for the competition. You can use your cellphone camera for all we care (that could be awesome) just make sure you’ll be able to get it onto the blank DVD we’re providing.
So start getting prepped and pumped, and sign up for the 24 Hour Music Video Contest while you’re at it!
* Places available: 45
(note: thanks go to Tristan Brand for the 24hr music video idea.)
The Music Video Making Contest Launches at 2pm on Saturday August 5th. Videos must be dropped off, finished as best you can and burned onto DVD, 24hrs later- Sunday at 2pm. The judges will leave with the completed videos at 3 so you must be in before then. ok?
winners will be announced and screened at the indyish show, tickets for which are available here:

Hi Nathan! Thanks for your interest! You didn’t enter an email when you commented so I’ll dish out some info right here.
at 2pm tommorrow a maximum of 45 participants will recieve a song at random from either Sara JOhnston, Telefauna, or Shoot the Moon. They’ll get the song on CD and will be given a blank DVD as well.
The rest is up to you- we provide no equipment and we don’t care what you use- but we can’t wait to see it! (there are free video editing software online, like Jumpcut.com, and others we mention here. also, there are lots of public domain video ressources online. best example: google Prelinger Archives.)
You must be able to burn to DVD when you’re done.
You gotta come back at 2 on Sunday with your music video as complete as you can make it. at 3pm sharp the judges will leave to watch the submissions, and pick their favorite. The judges are the bands, so picking the winner will come down to how well they feel the video connects with their song.
Winners get announced and screened at the party that night.
and we’d love to have you so come on down! the bands are excited to see what gets made, and we’re hoping there are plenty of brave and creative participants to make sure these talented musicians end up with something they really love.
ok?
cheers to YOU!
