I’m just bursting with excitement for the Ms. Guided launch this Thursday. The Montreal-based travel-writing zine ties together two of my favourite things: literature and a sense of place. I’m also looking forward, somewhat narcissistically, to seeing my first short story in print in this edition. To top it off, the event will feature bluegrass, klezmer and the fabulous Subcollisions!
The Ms. Guided crew, Maya and Eliane, write:
Hello dearests!
Ms. Guided is on the verge of launching for a second time, and you are cordially invited to take part in the festivities. We’ll be celebrating issue #2 with a whimsical array of musical undertakings and a few poetic moments of reflection, to boot.
Performances include: ElliotMaude (invigoration-folk music by my own definition), Dara Weiss of Yonderhill, and friends (old-time bluegrassy trio not to miss), Sub Collisions (Franglais Cabaret, gorgeously unprecedented and darkly unique, as you’ll see), and Beth Shenayim (Klezmir music—something the circles I run in come nowhere near witnessing enough of).
The evening promises to be an eclectic performance of artistic will, as well as an exploration of travel-consciousness; the theme of our second issue is motion sickness, in its many manifestations.
We hope you can come out for an amazing show, an all-original zine, and a great party. Do invite your friends!
It all goes down on Thursday, November 22nd , at 185 Van Horne. Doors open at 8pm. Costs $6-9 (sliding scale), and includes a copy of Ms. Guided #2.
Hope to see y’all there!
Yours Truly,
Maya & Eliane
