More Upgrades and Scheduled Maintenance

Indyish will be undergoing another major upgrade beginning on Saturday, Oct. 13th, 2007 at 12:00am [GMT-5].
These changes mostly affect the backend functionality of the site and so things shouldn’t look much different from the outside. However, as a result of upgrading to WordPress 2.3, some new features were added while others were slightly enhanced or improved. More details once the upgrades go live..
But, just to give you a preview of what’s coming:
- new internal tagging system (the way tag/keywords are used on indyish has been cleaned up and improved)
- new search interface (sort results by relevance, date, descending, ascending)
- new feature “Submit for Review” allows contributing authors to notify an editor that a blog post is ready to be published
- new feature “Related Posts” found at the bottom of most pages offers suggestions for further reading
- improved integration (show podcast stats on your profile page after selecting “Enable Indyish Podcasting” in your profile settings)
- improved overall speed/performance of the site..and tons of other tweaks and bug fixes!

Note: The podcasting component of Indyish will go offline for a total of 4 hours, after the upgrade process has begun. Actual podcasts should still be available throughout this transition period, however users will be unable to edit/add/delete new or existing podcasts during this time. So if you were planning to do any poddin’ this week, get them out before friday night and you’re good to go!

wow, that’s lucky. i hadn’t heard of it but i’m glad we did something, though accidentally.. we’ll need to mark it better next year. it’s a lovely idea to all unplug for a while and be outside.
