Montreal Minutes

by Risa Dickens

Indyish got itself all joyfully tangled up in the new Montreal Film Festival where everyone makes a minute: with Elran doing the programming for the upload at the last minute to make it happen when someone else bailed or something, and yours truly trying to figure out a quick simple video to contribute, M60 has been a nice part of our life this week. Today is the day the videos roll in, hopefully not too many at once for our poor servers! =) then at the end of September they’re throwing 2 screening parties so we can watch what all got made.

For a preview, here’s my Montreal Minute, a tribute to my new purple uke and with thanks to Jess Pare who suggested the song for it’s ukulele ease, and to Montrealers Stars for writing it and hopefully not minding my quiet tribute. I’m looking forward to seeing how all the films come out and, particularly, to see how the organizers choose to string the films they receive together and whether some sort of narrative, sum-is-more-then-parts thing emerges.
