Maintaining the spark between us…(Nightwood)

Dear Indyish,

I’m glad we’re doing this; organizing these little rendez-vous.

We started recording our epic full-length high-concept sea monster rock album this past weekend. When most Montrealers were prancing in the streets with little clothing on and burning in the sun, we were hunkering down in Digital Bird Studios, getting serious with Martin Horn. So serious that we time-lapsed each day for posterity. Check ‘em out:

During the recording, we:

• applied super glue to our fingers in order to reinforce our callouses
• drank Throat Coat tea
• read graphic novels and collections of essays to pass the time
• and checked our e-mail and Twitter
• listened to lots of playback
• recorded handclaps
• drank Boreale Cuivree beer (6.9%)
• laughed a lot at surprising crudeness and silliness
• had visitors! (Mimi, Eric and Andrew)
• took three hours to find some guitar sounds
• didn’t cry! : )
• wore fedoras
• wore the Bump Town sweater
• appreciate Martin! (Look out for crazy Martin eyes in the second video above- a series real close-up and fleeting peeks into his soul)
