hey - sorry i couldn’t do a heads up before, but i just got off the air with Charlotte and Robyn, too smart gals from Tricerratreetops who are also, turns out, sometimes hosts on CKUT’s Cafe Show - a local college radio station here in Montreal.
We did about a ten minute on air chat about events coming up, and about how Robyn’s friend Matthew Hiscock from Bodega Records suggested the idea for a Reverse MVMC, which has since become the inspiration for the new Indyish project which Tessa will be managing in the early spring. watchout for it, we were scheming about it today and i think it’s gonna be fly.
Robyn, Charlotte and I also talked about the crossover between indie artists and open source geeks and how I think they’re naturally connected because for the most part both communities are at the very least connected by being broke most of the time; the importance of intelligent, critial writing on fashion and why I love working with Worn Fashion Journal; and why people should buy subscriptions to Worn and buy stuff on Indyish and help us co-author the site… etc. twas grand.
if you heard it, let me know if i managed to sound smart - i think I may have been a little rambly and talk-with-my-hands-y. I do that. I ran into someone who had heard me the radio the other day, I guess when we were on CBC, and when I asked her how I sounded she said “excited!” which she suggested is probably not the coolest vibe to be giving off in our sweetly blase town, but whatever. I really like what i’m doing and most days i can’t help it, it jusst ooozes out of me in all kinds of non-blase ways. today i guess it oozed all over CKUT and though they may be awhile cleaning up (ew- metaphor may have gone too far there), i’m thankful to have had the opportunity.
so cheers ladies! and thanks! let’s talk again soon!
