Join the Indyish monthly mess!

by Risa Dickens

Hello artisans,

We have some excellent news to inform you of and some very cool performances to invite y’all to participate in.

Indyish is going to be hosting a monthly performance extravaganza at a new venue called Katacombes (1222 St. Laurent). It’ll take place the last Wednesday of every month starting Wednesday, March 28th.

The Katacombes’ proprietress shares similar values and ideas with indyish: creating community enhancing, socially conscious experiences via art. These monthly events will continue in the indyish spirit to provide a very eclectic mix of artists and their arts, to connect and support each other.

Don’t think that you can’t be a part of these performances but know that YOU can!!!

Indyish will continue with its food/clothing/books drive at each event, gathering your goods in exchange for an admission discount. These will be donated to the Katacombes’ neighbors, the Native Friendship Centre, who will also be involved in exhibiting art at the gatherings.

What we’re looking for is YOU!! We want to hear from you if you wanna participate. We want designers to take part in mini fashion shows and sell their wares. We want writers and poets to read. We want musicians that want to play. We want you to throw us your ideas of what YOU want to do. Do you have a one man play you want to try? Do you have a secret side project band that wants to rock out? Do you have a short film that needs to be seen, or even a longer one? All of this and more is welcomed and encouraged!!!! Just let us know what you are wanting to do.

Also -we have a beer sponsor for these events!! Good ol’ Boreal. So performers will be offered some free beer as well as a percentage of the door revenue. Keep in mind this revenue amount will not be much, but just our way of telling you that we appreciate your efforts.

Regards,

Indyish Team

note: This is a version of an email that was sent out to indyish artists a few days ago. We like to make sure they’re always the first to know about the stuff we do, but participation in these monthly happenings is definitely not just for the indyish. We’re serious. You’ll all welcome to get entangled in the joyful messy mess making.
