Jazz for Justice is a concet series raising funds for various good causes around the city. This month’s concert is this Saturday Feburary 9th and is a fundraiser for the Montreal City Mission (The Montreal City Mission, serving the downtown core for almost a century, makes legal advocacy and social intervention readily available for newly-arrived refugees, low-income families, and the elderly)
Here’s the details on the show and the performers which I’ve conviently cut and paste from the website for you:
The combination of one of Montreal’s most exciting young jazz vocalists with an innovative 7- and 6-string guitar duo. Sara Latendresse has a voice that invites listeners to sink back into themselves and experience a passionate journey through jazz, soul, pop and R&B wrapped in a hint of blues.
One of North America’s finest seven-string guitarists, Jon Gearey is an accomplished musician and arranger. He has studied and performed with noted jazz guitarists in New York and Montreal.
Greg Amirault, well known in Montreal for his trio and his masterful playing of originals and standards, teaches jazz guitar at McGill University and Cégep Marie Victorin.
