So spring’s here right? I know Montreal weather can be like its citizens (and politics, I guess), which is to say unpredictable and borderline bipolar - but in my books, spring starts one hour after the St Patrick’s day parade, regardless of any snowstorms that might occur in the following weeks. Now we all know that warm weather can be very uplifting and can encourage all types of positive vibes and behaviour… but I have this theory that the weather itself can be nudged along at this time of year by the very same things. And that, ladies and gentlemen is why I’m inviting everybody to come groove to the Jamaican riddims of Intensifyah on April 7th. Relatively new here in M-city, Intensifyah is a 7 piece, traditional ska / reggae / dub band that’ll make you skank all night if you let ‘em. If my theory is correct, then the collective sweat and happiness exuded by the crowd and the band will rise into the atmosphere and convince whatever being that controls Montreal weather that it’s time for sunshine, shorts, sandals, dogs jumping up to catch frisbees, drinking in the park and whatever else the warm season might mean to you. Here are the details: April 7th, 9pm at a club now called L’Absynthe (used to be called Le Bebop) which is located at 1738 St. Denis (corner Ontario). 5 bucks is all it takes to get in … imagine that, a funny piece of blue paper with a picture of Laurier on it has the power to change meteorological systems. Optimists: come dance the night away to tunes by the Skatalites, Horace Andy, Hortense Ellis, Augustus Pablo and others… Cynics: come dare to disprove my weather system theory… Rudies: you now have an excuse to dust off the two tone suit and pork pie hat…
