The Softwares: Scribus and Inkscape.
Most artists know there is a world of free open source software out there. The question is: how to find good open source tools, and how to wrap your head around what they can do for you.
Indyish.com is built on open source software. We are sustained by the amazing communities of people that help build the tools and languages we use- and we’d like to help others benefit from this empowering resource. As part of our Indyish Arts Weekend we’ve arranged to have a technical support professional from the world of open source lead an introduction to two tools we think the artists we know could make use of.

Jean Marc Dufour will be leading us through the steps involved in finding, downloading and beginning to use Scribus (a desktop publishing and layout program, similar to Quark, good for everything from flyers to books) and Inkscape (a vector graphics drawing and editing program, similar to Illustrator, good for drawing, tracing and general digital art-making.)
