Log in

1. Click Login in the top right hand corner.
2. Enter your username and password.
3. Once logged in, get to the Admin area by clicking Dashboard in the top right corner.

Draft a Post

Note: Depending on your level of permission, you may be able to draft posts for the group blog or products for the boutique. Check your Account, and if need be, Upgrade to access more features. The different permission levels are intended to limit spam and put Team Indyish into contact with members who are interested in getting more involved.

1. Once you are in the Site Admin area, click Write. This will open the Write Post window.
2. Click in the Title field - Write the title of your blog post or product.
3. Click in the body area located beneath the title - Start to write your draft.
4. Once you have started your draft, scroll down the page to click on Save and Continue Editing. This will save your work and keep you on this page.
5. Click the Preview link between the title and the body to open a preview window.

Note: While drafting your post, you can always click Save and Continue Editing, then refresh the Preview to see your most recent changes.

Put your post into Categories

Every post should be in either the Blog or Product category. Only posts marked Product will have Paypal code and show purchase options.

1. Go to the box beside the Title and body called Categories. Scroll through it until you find the right category and subcategories for your post.
2. Check off only the sub categories that apply to this post - For example: Product, Music, Ep

Add Tags

Add Tags from the Write Post page.

1. Find the tag tools below the main text field. List your tags separated by a comma.
2. Save your draft, and you’ll also see suggested tags from other posts. Clicking on these will add them to your tags for this post.

Add Tags from the frontend.

1. When you are logged in and looking at your post from the frontend you’ll see a small “tags” area below the post. This shows whatever tags have already been added to your post, and allows you to add more. List as many new tags as you want in that text box, separated by a comma.
2. Click plus sign to add the new tags.
3. To see that they have been added, Refresh your browser.

Upload Pictures.

Add as many photos to your Indyish posts as you like, using the Uploader below the tags on the Write Post page. Uploading will resize your photos to make them optimized for Web, and you can easily upload many images at a time. [Indyish Members can also create albums of images on the Indyish Gallery. Gallery How To’s Coming Soon.]

Using the Uploader:

1. Scroll down the Write Post page to find the field for uploading pictures.
2. Browse for the file
3. Click upload. This will load your picture onto the server and show you a thumbnail.
4. Click once on the thumbnail. This will reveal a list of options. The default options are good for posting on Indyish.
5. Click “Send To Editor”

Note: make sure you place your cursor at the exact spot in the body or Editor area where you want your picture to appear. When you click Send to Editor the image and code will be sent to where your cursor is, ie; the last place you clicked.

6. Repeat this process for as many pictures as you would like to add to this post.

Upload Audio

Members can add audio files to enhance any Indyish post using the Uploader on the Write Post Page. [Members can also create whole podcast channels through Indyish.com/Podcast. Podcast How To’s Coming Soon.]

1. Before you Upload make sure that the file has no spaces or weird characters such as &^%$#@!*()…
2. Make sure the file is either Ogg or Mp3…
3. Make sure the file is under 10 MB….
4. To Upload Go to Write Post, scroll down the page to the Uploader.
5. Browse and Upload the audio file as you would an image.
6. If the file has been successfully uploaded you’ll see the title as a link. Click to view options.
7. In the options, click Send to Editor.

Note: Audio can be tricky. If your audio file looks distorted, you may need to add div tags to the code. Divs are code that look like this:

Try adding these tags before and after the audio code, then Save and Preview to see if it worked. If you’re having problems with this, or compressing files, or getting the streaming to work properly, check in with us on the Forums and we’ll figure it out.

Get Published.

Note: You’ve got to get Published for your post to appear on the site for other users.

1. When you’re completely done drafting your post, click Submit for Review.
2. An editor will take a look, try to catch any mistakes and help add images or style.
3. If it’s approved, the editor will publish your post at a peak traffic time, so your post will get seen.
4. If an editor makes changes, they’ll submit the draft back to you. You’ll see drafts appear in the Admin area when you go to Dashboard, Write or Manage.
5. An editor will only contact you if there are major edits, otherwise, watch for your post to be published as soon as possible!
