Our hunt for 4 Community developers is trundling along greatly, and we’ve received some excellent emails about it from all kinds of folks I’m looking forward to meeting. I’m going to hold off on interviews until early next week, so if you’re thinking of putting yourself forward there’s still time.
In response to our call, I had a number of people from outside Montreal contact me to see how and if they could be involved. This is so cool. While I want to make sure we’re connecting with our neighborhoods here in Montreal, I also want to connect with likeminded artists and arts-supporters internationally.
It’s hard to make a living as an independent artist everywhere, and the folks who attempt it are connected to each other by the strength of their desire to spend time bringing something good into the world; by the non-violence of their practice; and by the struggle to make a living and, in many cases, to rationalize the “usefulness” of what they do. We exist to support their independent trajectories and, most importantly, to support that loose-but-crucial connection. So, in response to these offers of help from abroad, we’re now joyfully opening our figurative doors up to Regional Developers.
Regional Developers can help artists in their area get exposure through Indyish; and help Indyish grow so that artists make more sales and we make more ad revenue, becoming increasingly sustainable.
