Sarah Pearson directed us to the LINUX Cafe on Harbord and Grace, so now there’s a little Indyish crew assembled here this fine morning in Toronto surrounded by Perl manuals and the Hacker Quarterly and heaps and stacks of other Linux loving literature. I giggled and shmoozed a bit with the owner had the typical linux nerd conversation: so… what distro you running? at home, after much testing, Elran and I run Red Hat’s fedora core 6. Based on the faces this elicits we’re either hard core or deluded. Not sure which. Either way, I love it here and my nerdy blogging soul is soothed by the fair trade open source combo in this sweet spot, not to mention all the bead work. Did I mention the bead work? Lots of it.
Speaking of facial expressions - last night Tristan, Alanah, Sarah and I spent some time partying in the ole Uncalled For Bus that we’d helped get painted by some of the world’s sickest graffiti artists just weeks ago, during the Montreal fringe. At one point, Tristan and I overheard Dan and Mike and their friend, a publicist for Bravo, talking about those facial-expression reviews that can sum up a show wordlessly. To me this translates immediately into Ha! Blog THAT. So we did a whole series based on what people had seen so far, and who was willing to tell the truth with the faces. Tristan will get those up today and we’ll continue the series tonight.
Now we’re cramming in coffees then scooting out to see shows - I’m going to see Eleanor at noon, which is based on Beatles lyrics and the cafe is appropriately and hmmmm is that a coincidencely playing Beatles tunes. Ha! This day is a comin togetha..
here’s a coffee cup cheers from hq in montreal. can’t wait to read your reviews and hear about the inevitable fun times in t.o. with the nerdy nerdy indyish crew.
