Market Location: St. Laurent street, just north of Rachel, Parc des Ameriques. [Map]
Some spots are on ST. Laurent street, others are inside near the Ticket office - both are good spots for different reasons, but we’ll place people on the street first by order of arrival at the Indyish headquarters inside the park each day.
More on the event:
This is the 17th anniversary of the Montreal Fringe and Indyish is helping coordinate the celebrations with a variety of markets.
One of 69 Fringe Festival’s internationally, the Montreal Fringe brings together nearly 100 theatre companies and 50 000 visitors from around the world. POP Montreal helps make sure it’s a week of top notch live music too. Add to this the street fest madness that will shut down the major boulevard for almost a mile, multiplied by the added festivities around one of the most watched sporting events in the world, Grand Prix, and you’ve got some hot summer days and nights… so what do you want to do with ‘em?
Things to Think About:
Note on pricing:
If you’re going to sell something at your table, think on this…
People come to the St.Laurent street fest, for the most part, hoping to get a deal - the whole tradition built up around local businesses needing to sell off stock for the new season. The fest has become pretty spectacular, and huge, but this deal-hunting spirit remains. You can make a lot of money, but only by selling the right kind of things. In our opinion, you should have stock in at least one item that’s 20$ or less. One bill, no change.
With the bank machine right across the street, and 300 000 extra people in town for Grand Prix, you should be good to go.
Watch the Indyish tag “Fringe07” for many more mad updates!
Ok! we’ve received a great number of reservations already! And a few things have come up in need of clarification:
The cost for a full table- 2 spots- after the early bird, will be more then the current early bird price for a full table (50$). I gua-ran-tee it.
Each day is, I believe, 12pm-10pm. The street, so long as the weather is decent, will be completely packed during that time. It always is, especially where we’re setting up.
We are setting up right on St.Laurent street, in line with the rest of the street fest. In the past, markets have set up deeper in the park, which has it’s benefits, but we think we’ll make more sales if we’re more visible, so we’re going to try this.
You are welcome to buy more then 1 table for each day, or for multiple days. Just enter your quantity when purchasing, no problemo.
cheers!

Hi Risa!
Is it possible to reserve a specific date for a full table? Or are dates random?
Thanks :)

Yes! You can definitely reserve a full table for a specific date, although it’s better if you reserve a full table for specific market theme and are a bit flexible on the date. i should be able to get a schedule of which themes will be on which days up here soon, but already i’m pretty sure the “alt arts” day will be the first friday. we wanna open with a bang ;)
cheers janick!! nice to see you here!

please note - as of March 30th this post was updated with more info on themes and days.
One thing I didn’t mention is that from what i know right now, we’re not doing markets the last saturday because the Fringe does a big event that day right where we would be. I’ll let you know if that changes.
Also - I am working on a rain venue where we would be able to remain open (instead of just packing up for protection) - but this is not confirmed yet so shhhhhhh =)

hi - the 10th is sold, but there’s room on the 15th, and yes i’ve been letting that theme of ‘alt arts’ be pretty darn loose, so come on in jamie! and sorry the brief delay here, we’ve been launching assembly 2.0! woo! and redoing the events page and all that stuff that comes with..(check it!) anyway- like i said: final last for real this time deadline extending- please get your orders and reservations in by tonight for the early bird special!

actually to be clear - the 10th has a few more places available, but a very few, and it’s a bit of a mixed up day because we found out they’ll be shutting the streetfest down early. we’ll still have the markets till late as people will be packing into the beer tent.. but anyway -bit of a weird day so i’d recommend the fridays. (fyi- marilis has been emailing everyone who bought a table on the 10th during early bird to clarify and offer a free table for the confusion)… thank you marilis..=)
