Indyish Assembly 2.0 named Celtx project of the week!

by Tessa Smith

It was announced this afternoon that the Indyish Assembly 2.0 International Art Relay (ie. that crazy collaborative experimental event that we produced from May 1st-June 16th with 2 shows at the Fringe) is Celtx “Project of the Week”!!!

We started working with Celtx on the first Assembly back in February. Since then we’ve befriended their team of friendly open-source newfies and figured out a pretty effective exchange of energies. They gain tons of hands-on feedback from participants about their software and gain new users while being true to their wish for international collaborations; we have their excellent tech support throughout the project and are able to publish our documentation in projectbooks and dvds.

Check out the post announcing the Assembly 2.0 as winner of the P.O.W.

Participants from every stage of the relay (writers, illustrators, animators, theatre groups, and musicians) are being sent the “we plug in” Indyish/Celtx tshirts with One Neck’s design along with Celtx usb keys. Every single participant!

POW!

Thanks again (and again) for taking part, and to Celtx for helping make it all possible. Enjoy the swag and stay tuned for upcoming Assembly relays.

good job Tessa and the entire Assembly 2.0 team !!
you all definitely earned it ;)
thanks, also, to Celtx and everyone who participated.

and thanks elran for all your unseen work that makes any of this possible.

aw jeez, why don’t we all just group hug and melt into a puddle of mutual smoochiness.

but seriously, i think what makes indyish and our network unique is the massive emphasis on building these types of working relationships. it’s definitely challenging, especially when dealing with a dozen different groups, each with their own practices and priorities, but it also makes for the most sustainable relationships.

Ultimate congratulations to all — this was not only fun to help put on, but was one of the most interesting and unique (and paper-saving, which always gets points with me) concepts I’ve seen in a long time!

Cheers to the hardworking chieftans and chieftanesses who saw the whole Assembly through… and lived to tell about it (after a long night’s sleep)!

I finally checked out the CELTX website as i have been sporting their tshirt and USB key for a few weeks and still had no idea what they DO/ARE. I don’t know much about film production or opensource software, but i was impressed by the easy to understand and friendly site (I’ll definitely recommend to people i know working on film projects). But what would you expect from Newfies? (I had the chance to hitch across nfld last summer and it was awesome! Only they made me drink screech and wolf down a capelin head-first in order to stay in the hostel in st-johns. Like they seriously wouldn’t let me in otherwise…)
