Here’s the email that was sent to Assembly illustrators who have sent us a Celtx username. We are waiting for usernames from the rest of the illustrators and will send them this message when we receive it. Once we run out of Assembly scripts to hand off, we will be assigning illustrators to sections of TJ Dawe’s piece.
Scriptwriting ended yesterday at midnight with 16 scripts being uploaded to Celtx Project Central. Each of you has been added by one of the writers (chosen randomly) to one of the projects. That means that you can now open Celtx, login, go to “download a project”, and select the Assembly project that has been shared with you.
When you open it, the first thing to do is make a copy (File>Copy Project). Work from the copy so you can properly upload your new work.
In the project, you’ll find the full Assembly rules which includes a project schedule, details on how the projects get passed, and info on what will happen to your work. So it’s probably worth reading over.
You’ll also see a piece called “The music God listens to on His walkman”, which was written by TJ Dawe specifically for all Assembly scriptwriters to use; they chose 5 elements from it in writing their own script.
Finally, you’ll see the script that you’ll be illustrating which was titled by the scriptwriter.
You have until midnight Thursday June 7th to create 5-10 images for the script. When you finish, upload your images as high res files directly into the Celtx project. Give yourself some time for them to upload as this can take a bit of time with larger files. Go to the Web Services tab and upload to Project Central, setting the permission to: viewable by all.
While you’re illustrating, the Assembly team will be meeting to decide which scripts get made into plays and which get turned into animations. If the script you’re working on goes the animation route, your illustrations will be used by the animator to create their film. Either way, your illustrations will be published in the Assembly Projectbook and on indyish and will be part of the project that gets passed to bands to make a soundtrack for.
Thanks again for taking part in the Assembly! I look forward to seeing your work,
Tessa
