If you find yourself in Toronto in the next few, you’d better check out the 2nd Red Festival for me. The festival’s creator Lisa Pijuan-Nomura is one of my all-time, most cherished Montreal Fringe Alumni and one of the most supportive and genuine people I have ever met. Ever. Ever ever ever. Ever.
Here is a little about the fest that I gleamed off Lisa’s web page www.girlcancreate.com.
“In October of 2002, Lisa Pijuan-Nomura announced the beginning of a new performance series at Toronto’s Lula Lounge. On October 15, seven artists performed to an enthusiastic audience of 70 people. The bi-monthly event went on to grow to present an ecclectic and diverse mix of theatre, music, dance, puppetry, spoken word, storytelling, film and visual and performance art. To date, over 300 established and emerging artists have performed at this unique event.
In the fall of 2004, Pijuan-Nomura held the first RED Festival, a 4 day arts festival that featured 100 artists from Toronto and beyond. The 2nd Installment of this festival will happen in April of 2007.
Pijuan-Nomura has curated special events at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre, The Theatre Centre presented RED as part of the FreeFall Festival in February 2006.”
Puppets folk, puppets. And all the rest. As diverse and fun as our Indyish crew, no?
And if you can’t make it, visit the web page and let your TO possie know what’s going down. Or look up Lisa’s flickr page and see what an eye she has for wonder and creativity.
wow, it’s nice to find this sort of article written about oneself on line.
Thanks.
I am blushing.

Lisa
