How the Indyish Show Runs

Here at Indyish we sometimes produce events, especially this one periodic, traveling, inter-arts showcase we call: the MonthlyMess. After an intense season of shows, we are chilling out a bit and taking some time to document the outlines of what has become our process.

So, in response to the question I am constantly being asked by curious potential performers (who are awesome! I’m so excited about the artists in the next shows!) here is:

How the Mess Works

indyish adapts it’s events to venue, partners, situation but in general the mess runs like this…

- artists are contacted or contact us ()
- indyish/the artists sometimes suggest collaborations
- when possible indyish works to help collaborations come about
- indyish creates a show order with artists’ set times, usually between 5-20 minutes
- indyish provides venue, mics, pa, beer, laptop, digital projector etc with help from sponsors
- often indyish works to try and coordinate sharing backline between bands
- indyish promotes the show and helps the artists involved promote it too
- tickets are available at the door, price is pwyc: pay what you can
- most artists and staff donate their time to the show
- indyish documents the show and encourages artists to document and disseminate
- indyish produced documentation, when it’s made available, is licensed cc attribution
