
Catherine Kidd is officially hosting the Indyish and POP Montreal Holla-Days Party next weekend- Dec 17 2006 at Club Lambi- Yay!
Catherine Kidd is the author/performer of Sea Peach, a cd/book collection of stories as well as a critically-acclaimed stage show. Described as ‘an adult blend of Dr. Seuss and Aesop’s Fables’, Sea Peach won the *MECCA Award for Best New Text in 2003*. Cat Kidd has toured Sea Peach from Story-telling Festivals in Whitehorse and Yellowknife, to the Edinburgh Fringe 2004; from Toronto’s World Stage 2005 to ARENA festival in Bavaria. She has performed in Oslo, Bristol, Minneapolis and New York, and Singapore. Her new book/DVD *Bipolar Bear* is being released this November through Conundrum Press.
Kidd’s writing has appeared in numerous publications; her short-story Green-Eyed Beans was nominated for this year’s Journey prize. She has lead workshops in writing and performance for students at every level, from elementary through university. She has taught at McGill and Concordia, and also via video-conference to highschool students up North. Her first novel Missing the Ark [conundrum press] will be launched in Spring 2007, and will be available at the Indyish Insta-Boutique and here at Indyish online soon!
That’s her bio, but I’ll tell you this personally-
1. I was at her house today and she’s a dear and inspiring presence, super funny and wise and with tons of knowledge and cool stories, and is comfortably astonished by that fact that she makes her living writing and talking and performing.
2. She has a freaking wicked cool voice and rhyming style that gathers momentum as it pulls together a narrative and becomes most musical when it’s making the most sense, which is eye opening.
3. She’ll be doing a short piece of her own to open the show!
