Holly Golightly, a first lady of the blues, of Thee Headcoatees fame, collaborator with such cruch-rock luminaries as Billy Childish and The White Stripes among many others, will be gracing Montréal with her two-person blues collective The Brokeoffs next Tuesday Nov. 11 at Sala Rossa. What better way to celebrate remembrance day than with with a trip down folk and gospel lane, with a side dish of punk rock, served mouth-burning shit-hot? With twenty-plus records that look as far forwards as they do backwards already under her belt, the British singer-songwriter is guaranteed to induce moisture in at least several parts of your body. Be there, or finally admit that you don’t like contemporary music at all and just go listen to Chom or something. Buddy MacNeil & The Magic MIrrors and Delany Davidson open.
Nov 11. 9:30, $15. Sala Rossa.
Check back here Wednesday for a full review of the spectacle.
